Winter Theme Snacks

winter penquin

Winter theme snacks will add even more interest to your winter theme.

When teaching or entertaining with a single theme for a few days, you'll want to immerse the kids into the theme in as many ways as you can. Plan activities and crafts around a basic theme, and add theme based snacks.

These winter theme snacks are fun for kids and are easily made.

Snowman Pancakes

Make snowman shapes with your favorite pancake batter on the griddle. Use chocolate chips to create faces. A dusting of powdered sugar is optional.

OR... make three different size circle pancakes. Give one of each size to each child and let them create their own snowman on their plate. Offer chocolate chips or raisins for face making.

Snowballs

Serve powdered sugar doughnut holes. Make sure to call them snowballs. Kids always think food is more fun when you give them kid-friendly names.

Snowman Crackers

Spread cream cheese on round crackers. Let the children use raisins or chocolate chips to make a snowman’s face.

Edible Snowflakes

Use scissors to cut a tortilla into a snowflake shape. If the children are big enough to use scissors, let them do this step themselves. Using a little oil in the pan, fry to crisp. Give each tortilla a sprinkling of cinnamon and sugar.

Plan to make plenty of these. Kids love them!

Snowflake Cakes

Make snowflakes on baked cupcakes or cake by placing a doily on top and sprinkling with powdered sugar. This also works well with most types of cakes.

*The kids will love an opportunity to sprinkle!

Banana Frosties

You'll need:

  • 1 cup of cold milk
  • 2-3 bananas
  • 10 snowballs (scoops of frozen vanilla yogurt)

Put all ingredients together in a blender. Let the kids help you count the number of snowballs. Blend and serve immediately.

Snow Slushies

Make homemade slushies with freshly fallen snow. Simply put a scoop of snow in a small cup and add a few spoonfuls of your favorite frozen juice concentrate (thawed to room temperature) over the top.
