Apple crafts add another element to an apple theme. When teaching about apple harvesting and sampling different varieties of apples... include some craft activities and encourage the children to be creative.
Use the apple crafts below to get started.
Make Apple Prints
Slice apples in half, dip in paint, and press on paper. Use red, green, and yellow paint.
Cut the apple horizontally and find a star shaped print. Cut the apple vertically and get an apple shaped print.
Use large sheets of paper for this project, or use a plain colored paper disposable tablecloth (use newspaper underneath) and let all the children help create an apple tablecloth.

Make a Hand-print Apple Tree
Trace around a child’s hand and part of their arm on white paper. Color the hand brown. This makes the trunk and branches of a tree. Use green paint and sponges cut in leaf shapes to create greenery on the tree. Use a cut carrot dipped in red paint to make apples.

Tissue Paper Apples
Print out apple shapes on card stock paper. Let the children cut them out. Give the children small squares (red, green or yellow) cut out of tissue paper. Have them place a bit of glue on the cardboard cut-out and crumple a piece of tissue paper in the glue.
OR… give them strips of construction paper (in red, green or yellow) and let them tear pieces to create a mosaic apple.

Applesauce Decorations
Mix equal parts of applesauce and cinnamon (ex. 1 cup of applesauce/1 cup of cinnamon). Mix until a dough consistency is formed. Use a baking roller to make the mixture flat enough to use cookie cutters and create shapes. Use a straw to make a hole in the top so the decoration can be hung later. Let dry on a cookie sheet. This will take a few days to dry. Turn over after the first full day to make sure it’s drying uniformly.
